SQL Server 2016 adds more options for performing real-time analytics on rapidly changing in-memory data by adding support for column store indexes on memory-optimized OLTP tables. When both workloads are run concurrently, resource contention between them is significantly reduced. As changes occur to a table, the database engine automatically manages changes to the index to ensure that it stays current with the underlying table.
Analysis Services Enhancements
Analysis Services provides two different modes to support faster reporting and analytics: multidimensional and tabular. In SQL Server 2016, multidimensional mode and tabular mode both benefit from enhancements that improve performance.
